Science Club: Environmental Case Studies
The Case Studies below have been collected from various sources, especially the National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science. The mission of the National Center for Case Study Teaching in Science (NCCSTS) is to promote the nationwide application of active learning techniques to the teaching of science, with a particular emphasis on case studies and problem-based learning. These case studeis are currently being used to help students in the Ecology Club prepare for the 2014 Michigan Envirothon.

- Create a persuasive argument for or against dam construction.
- Evaluate multiple aspects of a complex issue and justify a personal position.

- Read the Case Study together.
- Divide into three groups: Economic, Social, and Ecological Impacts
- Research the topics using the guidelines and references cited in the Case Study
- Create a 3 minute presentation providing an argument either for or against the Dam
